For guests

Check in once. Keep the night moving.

A pass in your pocket that venues can read, and you stay in charge of what they see. It is not available to download yet; this is what it is being built to do.

One pass, built once

Add a photo, and verify through a third-party provider if you want to. Then you are set up, not set up at every door.

It refreshes

The code on your pass changes every few seconds to under half a minute, so an old screenshot does not work as a pass.

You choose what is shared

Venues see your photo, first name, and verification status. Letting another venue see where you were checked earlier is a separate, optional yes.

Delete means delete

You will be able to ask for your data to be deleted. The exact process and any retention the law requires are being finalized with counsel.

Things worth knowing

Bring your physical ID anyway

Some venues will always want to see it, and the app may tell staff to ask. If your phone is dead or has no signal, the physical ID is your plan B. thewrit does not replace it.

The venue still decides

Being verified once does not guarantee entry anywhere. A venue can say no for its own reasons, and staff always have the last word.

No cover at many bars

Plenty of places will not charge you anything at the door. Where a venue does offer paid cover, that is optional and comes later.

Your face is not scanned by the door

The first version uses no face recognition. Staff look at your photo and at you, the way they always have.

The iOS and Android betas are not available yet. When testing opens, the tester list is where you will hear about it.
